After two blog fails, I am reinventing this blog again - sort of. With my second degree drawing to a close (10 days until my last exam!) I am planning on doing an Honours project which will hopefully use atmospheric modelling to forecast the yield of renewable energy sources in the same way that we predict the weather. I think that this is going to be a lot of fun and it is also has the potential to be very useful. The fact that renewable energy is dependent on the weather makes it relatively unreliable and this is a problem for power utilities who need to schedule renewable energy sources in with their traditional fossil fuel powered sources.
I don't have the time to go into this further now because, you know, I am supposed to be studying but what I plan to post here is some interesting information about renewable energy sources and the challenges we face in having these technologies adopted on a broad scale along with the progress of my research. I hope that when the year is through this blog will represent an easy to read and accessible source of information on my research and on renewable energy in general.
