Tony seems to be a master manipulator. He takes random, unrelated pieces of information and mashes them together to create sensationalized rubbish that the Australian media just eats up. How dare he criticize the efforts of those people in Copenhagen who are working to solve problems rather than just bleat out crap which Tony Abbott does so well? How dare he accuse people who have spent their lives researching and finding solutions of suggesting needlessly expensive solutions. Does he seriously think he can come along and go, "we'll solve the problem in its entirity by offering a solar rebate - easy". Because no one else on the planet even considered that?
Climate change is a problem, ask anyone who lives in a marginal environment what climactic changes they have seen over their lifetime, and it is going to be an expensive problem to overcome. Just because it is going to cost money does not mean that the end result is going to be a totally horrific economic black hole. That money is going to go somewhere isn't it? How much money has been spent and lost creating the Internet that we know and love today? Does anyone out there think that this money was wasted?
Another thing to consider is that here in WA we are endowed with more renewable energy sources than almost anywhere on earth. Our access to wind, wave and solar energy is unmatched so its not like WA wouldn't have a bucketload of industry and economic growth on the back of a renewable energy economy.
Right, well I feel marginally better after venting although I do still really really want to punch Tony Abbott in the face. Hopefully he'll keep me angry enough so I'll keep blogging.
